It is generally accepted by most farmers' markets that stall holders must have grown, bred, caught, pickled, brewed or baked the goods themselves. Their main emphasis is to help local producers and processors to sell their goods directly to the public, near their source of origin.
The selection of goods available will vary with the season and location. However, you are likely to find a delicious selection of vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs, bread and cakes, fruit juices and dairy products.
There's generally a stall selling the excellent free-range pork and pork products from Lane Farm of Brundish (q.v.), plus their salami (sold under the name of the Suffolk Salami Company [q.v.]); another offering free-range free-range chickens (plus seasonal geese and turkeys) from Yew Tree Farm, Fressingfeld; butchered meat and poultry of all kinds from D.J. Barnard of Shropham (q.v.) plus home-made pies and tarts from Goulborns of Bungay (q.v.); chocolate truffles from the Norfolk Truffle Company (q.v.); artisan bread from the Metfield Bakery , Metfield (q.v.) and excellent apple juice in individual 'flavours' from Greenwoods of Carleton Rode (q.v.).
As with all markets of this type, arrive fairly early to have a comprehensive choice of what stallholders offer.
