With views of Lake Windermere and beyond to the Old Man of Coniston, Linthwaite House has a unique, lived-in interior design which sees, for instance, old brass-cornered chests converted into practical coffee tables. Spacious traditional lounges open out onto a comfortable conservatory and the feel of space and comfort pervades.
Luxurious bedrooms have top-quality bedlinen with fully-tiled en suite bathrooms, plush towels and bathrobes. They are also equipped with satellite television and CD hi-fi systems. Some rooms have splendid views over the lake.
Guests have free use of a nearby leisure spa, with an indoor pool, spa bath, sauna, steam room, squash and gym. They also have their own trout lake. Dogs are welcome, but are confined to the grounds; kennels are provided.
The hotel is ideally situated for cycling or touring including the heritage attractions of Beatrix Potter's 'Hilltop' and Wordsworth's homes; or simply walking on the surrounding fells.
Excellent food is under the supervision of Simon Bolsover but note that young children aren't allowed in the dining room for dinner
