Find this delightful country house hotel, built of honey-coloured Bath stone in 1835, just a mile from the city centre. It's a luxurious place to stay if you're visting the city.
It's beautifully set in walled gardens, and once inside you'll be met with comfortable sofas and an impressive display of fine art and period antiques. In winter, open fires will make you feel at home. The name Priory, is misleading, although it was built as a private house during the mid 19th century on land once owned by Bath Abbey.
The bedrooms, named after flowers, are opulent some looking over the front of the hotel, others enjoying excellent views over the 4 acres of landscaped gardens. Some have four-poster beds, two small balconies overlooking the gardens, while another is reached by a spiral staircase.
All have plush and well-designed en suite bathrooms; with towelling robes and quality toiletries nearly have separate shower cubicles in addition to a tub. Some interconnect, and can become family suites.
The standard of service is high, being discrete, friendly and efficient.
Resident guests can enjoy complimentary use of the comprehensive facilities of The Garden Spa, and by appointment, a range of relaxation or beauty therapies.
All in all, a sumptuous place in which to both eat and stay. See also our 'Restaurant' section.
