Originally built for an Edinburgh merchant in 1595, this is now both a top-class restaurant and a unique place to stay in Edinburgh. The building is by the gates of Edinburgh Castle, and has been skilfully decorated and furnished to show its history to the full.
Accommodation comprises of suites, rather than rooms, each being given a name - such as 'Inner Sanctum', 'Old Rectory', 'Guardroom' and the like - each having its own character and brimming with antiques.
Staying here becomes an event in itself, as a bottle of Champagne is included in the price of each suite - and their guest book shows the rich and famous have preceded your visit.
There is one ground-floor bedroom.
Continental breakfast is included in the price of each suite.
