Now as much a destination restaurant as a hotel, there's still the atmosphere of a large family home in this handsome 17th century mansion, where hymn-writer and novelist the Rev. Sabine Baring Gould once lived. The setting is particularly peaceful, hidden away in a wooden hollow beneath the wild tors of Dartmoor.
The comfortable bedrooms, vary in size, but are furnished with antiques including a couple of four-posters, have deep carpets plush modern bathrooms and all the expected modern facilities. All enjoy fine views through the leaded windows.
Public rooms include an impressive gallery and fine oak panelling. While the whole is surrounded by beautiful gardens, partly designed by Gertrude Jekyll.
