The Morris family, resident here since 1945, opened this mellow, redbrick Elizabethan manor house, first as a restaurant (in 1980) and later as a fully-fledged hotel which soon became known for its warm welcome and easy-going atmosphere.
The first-floor Great Parlour with its ribbed ceiling, red velvet walls, splendid old fireplace and comfortable sofas and armchairs is the sole day room there's a bar in one corner.
The bedrooms have each been individually-decorated in a classic way, using William Morris designs for the walls and soft furnishings, plus extras such as fresh fruit, mineral water and Sherry. There are two suites, one of which 'The Garden' is popular with newly-weds - all have delightful en suite bathrooms. Six acres of beautiful grounds include a lake and water gardens.
