Situated in a tiny fishing village at the northern end of the canal connecting Loch Fyne with the Atlantic, this hotel offers beautiful views either westwards up the Jura Sound or down over the canal's 15th and final lock. Nick & Frances Ryan have been here since 1970, and Frances designed the hotel's interior.
The bedrooms, individually furnished, are set over three floors, all having views of the canal basin or Sound of Jura - many have private balconies. They have modern TV's, tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathrooms (a few with showers only). Cots can be provided.
There's a light airy bar incorporating an art gallery, often selling the excellent work of the proprietoress; plus a coffee shop offering snacks. While business users can book their top floor meeting room holding up to 30 delegates; some of whom might decide to arrive in the hotel's seaplane or land at the helipad five minutes away.
Dogs are welcome, by arrangement, for a small charge - but not allowed in the dining room.
