Chestnuts– to cook

These can also be roasted over an open fire for the same length of time.

Ingredients

Fresh Chestnuts.

Method

1. Make a slit on the rounded-side of each chestnut with a sharp knife. This allows steam to escape and stops them exploding.
2. Bake them, on a tray, for about 10 minutes in a fairly hot oven – 200ºC/400ºF/Gas 6.
3. Cool them a little, then peel them while they're still warm.
