A good neighbourhood restaurant offering carefully sourced mainly-local food, prepared without too much fuss, so that individual flavours stand out.
Although the menu changes with the seasons, and fish with the catch, starters such as Cornish Smoked Duck; Moules Mariniere; Mawgans Salad (mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes and Cornish cheese) and Prawn Cocktail (here made with freshly-peeled prawns, making all the difference) set the style.
Perhaps to be followed by 'Fillet Steak with Roasted Vine Tomatoes and Mushroom stuffed with Cornish Blue'; 'Marinated and Roast Chicken Breast, with Coriander and Ginger'; 'Beetroot Burgers - topped with a poached egg - with pesto dressing'; 'Seafood Tagliatelle' or their selection of fresh fish of the day.
A few desserts might include Lemon Tart with locally-made Lemon Curd Ice Cream and Chocolate Indulgence chocolate torte, mocha pot and ice cream with dipped strawberries and clotted cream.
They are members of the Slow Food Society, so take their food seriously. No children of under 15 are catered for.
