Ubiquitous Chip

12 Ashton Lane, Glasgow, Glasgow, G12 8SJ
This unique complex of eateries and drinking outlets should have something for everyone. Venues have been given titles such as Courtyard, Brasserie, Big Pub, Wee Pub, Corner Bar - as well as their top of the bill Restaurant 'Dining Room'. You can meet friends (as long as you're not waiting in different places) have a good meal in the Brasserie or more elaborate one in the Dining Room - example dishes of which are listed below.

The menu specialises in the best Scottish produce, and many traditional dishes are listed - but in no way does it seem dated, as there are modern twists at every turn.

Starters such as 'Venison or Vegetarian Haggis, Mashed Potatoes, Carrot Crisps & Turnip Cream'; 'Brandade of Salt Ling in Batter with Cauliflower Cream Parsnip, Apple Velouté & Cinnamon Apple Fritter'; 'Braised Perthshire Pig's Cheek, Wild Mushroom Sauce & Truffled Potato Omelette' and 'Pan-Fried Scallops on a Potato Rosti, Stewed Garlic & Chambery Coral Sauce' set the style.

Perhaps to be followed by 'Free-Range Perthshire Pork Fillet stuffed with Prunes & Haddies, Garlic Crushed Potatoes, Lemon & Vermouth Carrots & Apple Fritters'; 'Steak & Kidney Pudding with Candied Root Vegetables'; 'Perthshire Pigeon, Roasted in Bacon, Wild Mushroom Sauce, Rich Game Sauce & Risotto' and 'Orkney Organic Salmon, Lime & Vanilla Mash, Red Pepper & Chambery Sauce & Salmon Beignet'.

If you still have room, you might be tempted by 'Caledonian Oatmeal Ice Cream with Fruit Compote'; 'Strawberry Brioche with Basil Ice Cream'; 'Peach & Frangelico Custard Tart with a Snow Egg of Peaches & Hazelnuts' or their selection of Scottish farmhouse cheeses.

The bars are justifiably proud of their selection of malts.
