Find this excellent foodie pub with rooms, handily-set close to the South West Coastal Path. It's reputed to be one of the oldest surviving inns in Cornwall - but all has now been brought tastefully into the 21st century, including the style of food served.
You can eat in the Bar, slightly more formal Restaurant - or if the weather allows, the garden; and what's on offer is chosen from the best that's available locally and in season.
You can just have a snack or sandwich, one course or go for the works, where early summer starters such as 'Cornish Duck Liver & Port Paté, with Spiced Pear, Apple & Raisin Chutney & Toasted Raisin Bread'; 'River Exe Mussel & Local Greens Risotto with Parsley & Parmesan'; 'Dorset Blue Vinney, Apple & Onion Marmalade Tart with Caramelised Walnuts and Cabernet Sauvignon Dressing' and 'Ham Hock & Green Pea Soup with Crème Fraiche and Croûtons' set the style.
'Sliced Ham with Free Range Eggs & Chips with Homemade Tomato Ketchup'; 'Deep-Fried Haddock in Beer Batter with Chips, Minted Peas & Tartare Sauce'; 'Roasted Whole Lemon Sole with English Asparagus, New Potatoes & Lemon Butter Sauce'; 'Roast St Buryan Pork Fillet with Hog's Pudding, Pork Cheek Bubble & Squeak and Cabbage & Bacon' and 'Wild Mushroom & Summer Vegetable Risotto with Old Winchester Cheese & Truffle Oil' might follow in the mains listings.
Puds are taken seriously, with dishes such as 'Sticky Ginger Pudding with Apple Compote, Toffee Sauce & Calvados Ice Cream' and 'Cornish Gooseberry Pavlova with Cornish Clotted Cream & Elderflower Ice Cream' - being matched with recommended dessert wines.
Whilst they als offer a selection of local Artisan Cheeses.
