The Winner of the Gourmet Britain Best Restaurant Award for 2011Find this excellent restaurant in the trendy boutique Zetter Hotel - the kitchen being headed by the eponymous Bruno Loubet, who to Australia's loss and our gain has returned to London, his most successful stomping ground.
His style has evolved rather than changed since he lead the kitchens at L'Odeon and has Soho Bistrot Bruno - so expect French Regional dishes with robust flavours and a modern twist, plus a few influences from Asia and North Africa - and all prepared to the highest standards. An open plan kitchen adds to the bustle and interest as you can imagine your food being prepared.
While the menu changes with the seasons a Winter version brought 'Onion Soup topped with Emmental Soufflé'; 'Guinea Fowl Boudin Blanc with Pumpkin Barley'; 'Wood Pigeon & Foie Gras with Pot au Feu Salad' and 'Beetroot Ravioli with Rocket Salad, Fried Breadcrumbs & Parmesan' among the starters.
'Tagine of Vegetables, Chick Pea & Quinoa Dumplings'; 'Piglet Confit with Cauliflower & Prune Gratin & Braised Lentils'; 'Braised Oxtail Stuffed with Cabbage, with Vichy Carrots, Onion & Bread Sauce' and 'Pan-Fried Sea Bream with Cauliflower & Parsley Purée & Squid Ink Stew' listed amongst the mains.
Perhaps finish with 'Chocolate Marquise with Caramel & Salted Butter Ice Cream'; 'Nougat Glacé with Raspberry Sauce' or 'Apple, Blackberry & Pistachio Clerkenwell Mess'.
Service is both friendly and helpful.
