The flagship restaurant at this comfortable hotel, is 'The Restaurant' - although you can eat less formally in The Terrace Restaurant.
Here we concentrate on the former.
Their signature starter is 'Lobster Macaroni Cheese, with Davidstow Cheddar' and this is listed when lobster is available; perhaps joined by 'Loch Duart Gravadlax with Caper Berries, Horseradish & Red Onion'; 'Carpaccio of Smoked Cornish Beef Fillet with Baby Gem Lettuce, Rocket Pesto, White Balsamic & Grana Padano' and 'Vegetarian Hors D'Oeuvre - vine ripened tomato & mozzarella tricolore, smoked chili gazpacho, char-grilled vegetable tofu wonton, Oriental vegetarian rolls, pickled ginger & avocado salsa'.
A matching 'Vegetarian Selection - risotto mille-feuille, ratatouille filled aubergine glazed with feta and Cornish Yarg ravioli with toasted pine nuts' is a mains fixture; perhaps joined by 'Pan-Fried Local Seabass with Newquay Crab & Crayfish Risotto, Confit Fennel, Baby Spinach & Pernod Froth'; 'Rack of Cornish Lamb with Confit Shoulder of Lamb, Ratatouille and Boulangère Potatoes'; 'Char-Grilled Aged Cornish Fillet Steak with Hand-Cut Chips with Watercress & Mini Yorkshire Pudding'; 'Half a Newquay Lobster either Grilled or Thermidor' and 'Seafood Platter' (served between two) typifies the main courses.
Puds, such as 'Sticky Toffee Pudding' and 'Crème Brulée with Sable Biscuits' plus a Selection of Cornish Cheeses are there to round off your meal.
You can eat less ambitiously - including at lunchtime - in The Terrace Restaurant or in fair weather, on The Veranda.
